National Space Trophy Dinner

The dinner will be held at the downtown Houston Hyatt Regency, Friday, April 25, 2008.  A reception will begin at 6:00 p.m. with dinner and awards presentations following. This is a black tie event. You and your spouse or guest will be informed of seating assignments when you arrive.

Al’s Formal Wear (1201 West Bay Area Blvd., Webster, TX, 77598) across from Baybrook Mall, is offering a 20% discount on any tuxedo rental for those participating in this Rotary event. If you choose to rent a tuxedo in Houston, you have the option to pick it up or have it delivered directly to the Houston Hyatt Regency concierge (under your name). Please ask for Bill Womble at (281) 338-6648 when you order your tuxedo and to discuss your delivery options. If you are out of town, check your local listing or visit www.alsformalwear.com for an Al’s Formal Wear location near you, where courtesy measurements can be taken. Be sure to mention you are attending the Rotary Event and indicate your pick-up option. Please provide the measurements at least one week in advance.

You are invited to bring your spouse or a guest. Your organization is responsible for arranging for seating reservations at the dinner banquet, so please be sure to confirm these arrangements with your organization and complete the RSVP form to confirm your attendance.

Winners of the Stellar awards in various categories will be announced the night of the dinner.  If you are selected as a winner, you will be called forward to accept the award. You will not be asked to make a speech.

In addition to the dinner, the Johnson Space Center (JSC) is hosting a tour in the morning, followed by a luncheon at Lakewood Yacht Club, hosted by the RNASA Foundation. You are invited to participate in these activities. A preliminary agenda is available on this website, and will be updated prior to the event. 

If you are a nominee or nominated team representative, you are invited to bring one guest to the luncheon and on the tours. 

For out of town guests making travel arrangements, the Houston Hyatt Regency will serve as the host hotel.  Maps are available on the website: www.houstonregency.hyatt.com. The hotel is offering a discount rate of $125 per night (not including applicable taxes) for all persons associated with the Rotary National Award for Space Achievement (RNASA) stellar event, so be sure to identify yourself as such.  You will be able to get this rate by calling the reservation department at 1.800.233.1234 or by booking a reservation via the website using the following URL:

Hotel Parking

The Houston Hyatt Regency only offers valet parking. Rotary will compensate $12 toward the price of parking for everyone attending the banquet, including overnight guests.

Transportation

Buses will be provided to transport nominees and their guests from the Houston Hyatt Regency to the Johnson Space Center for the morning tour, to Lakewood Yacht Club for the luncheon, and then back to the Houston Hyatt Regency in the early afternoon.  Those local to the Clear Lake area may board a bus at the Gilruth Center which will proceed to the tour, then the luncheon, and back to the Gilruth Center.  It is assumed that your organization will arrange for any other transportation.

What You Need To Do

For planning purposes, we need to know which of the events you will be able to attend. Please complete and send the RSVP form as soon as possible! The deadline for submitting your RSVP for attending the events is March 21, 2008.

As a reminder, it is your organization's responsibility to arrange for your attendance at the banquet, pay for your travel arrangements, and to provide you with time off to participate in the day's events.
